Toe Nail Cutting Service

This very popular service started in  2008 and we are now able to provide help across the whole of the county.

Do you struggle to cut your toenails on a regular basis?

Would it help to have someone come to your home to cut them at agreed times?

Someone will pop in to cut your toenails, usually every six weeks.

Who is eligible?

You must be over 55 years of age.

If you have diabetes, haemophilia  or any form of foot or nail fungus, (there are some other exceptions), you need to refer yourself to the NHS Podiatry department Telephone number 01296 331310. The NHS team will assess you and provide you with a letter, which will state whether you are eligible for our service or not.

How does it work?

You will be referred to a trained toe nail assistant who will visit and assess your needs and confirm that you are eligible. At this first visit, which is longer, your feet will be assessed and you will be asked to sign a declaration that you do not suffer from any of the excluded diseases or illnesses.

You will be asked to pay for a set of nail clippers and tools (approximately £12.50), which will remain your property and remain at your house. You need to keep them in a safe and obvious place for the next visits.

Someone will normally telephone you the day before an appointment to remind you.

You can pay by cash or cheque, regrettably we cannot accept debit or credit cards.

How do I start?

Please call 01296 431911 to be referred.

How much does it cost?

£15 per visit.

Changing agreed visit times

Please contact your regular Toe Nail Assistant who visits and not Age Concern Bucks.

How to avoid falls…..

Make sure your home is well lit and free from clutter particularly on stairs. Remove frayed rugs and carpets. Fit handrails on stairs steps and in bathrooms. Keep frequently used  items within easy reach. Avoid bending and climbing. Consider fitting a letterbox cage to avoid bending down. Look after your feet. Don’t rush! Get your eyesight and medications checked regularly. Think about getting a pendant alarm.
